Pastoral Care Leads, Heads of Grade

Generative and collaborative Peer Learning Community for Pastoral Care Leads, Heads of Grade

Welcome to our vibrant community of international educators, united by a shared commitment to pastoral care and student wellbeing! This space is dedicated to fostering collaboration and growth among educators, whether you’re new to pastoral care or a seasoned leader in the field. Together, we aim to build supportive networks and develop strategies that upskill teachers, empowering them to create inclusive environments grounded in restorative practices and proactive behavior management. A key focus is amplifying student voice, ensuring young people are active contributors to policy development and structures that shape their school experiences. By fostering care, empathy, and collaboration, we can design systems that prioritize relationships and promote accountability, helping students thrive in safe, supportive spaces. We also recognize the importance of engaging parents as partners in this work, creating strong home-school connections that reinforce shared values

Laura Kerr

Passionate about inclusion and dedicated to CPD. Currently, in my role at St Andrews, Green Valley I am Assistant Head Pastoral, act as Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), oversee SEND, Mental Health and Wellbeing, and Pastoral Care. I love the challenge each new day brings, and the impact we can have in our multifaceted roles. My current setting is a small, unique all-through school with an enrollment of 400 pupils, dedicated to providing personalised education rooted in environmental values. Our countryside location and community atmosphere contribute to a higher-than-average intake of vulnerable students. One of my current projects focuses on effectively inducting and engaging EAL families who are new to Thailand, ensuring they can seamlessly adapt to our pastoral expectations.

Ashleigh Ryan

Ashleigh Ryan is an experienced leader in middle school student wellbeing and behavior management, with a background in both New Zealand and her current role as Dean of Students at Stamford American International School Singapore. As an advocate for restorative practices, Ashleigh Ryan focuses on building relationships and resolving conflicts empathetically. Her approach prioritises communication, understanding, and the restoration of relationships over punitive measures. Ashleigh Ryan is committed to developing a culture of respect, empathy, and understanding the “why”. She brings a deep commitment to fostering inclusive, safe environments that celebrate and support diverse student and staff identities.
