Paul Thompson

Paul Thompson is an educator with 14 years experience, many of those years also spent in leadership positions such as Head of Mathematics and Approaches to Learning (ATL) Coordinator. He is passionate about making mathematics holistic and relevant to real-life; showcasing what he describes as the beauty of mathematics. Because of this, he is especially devoted to and familiar with the International Baccalaureate (IB) framework of education, and appreciates its approach to connecting mathematics to other disparate subjects, instead of the traditional approach through rote memoization that some curriculums still use.

Mihaela Stan

Mihaela is an experienced international educator with 16 years in curriculum design, instruction, and leadership. Passionate about helping students approach math with curiosity and resilience, she challenges the idea that math is only for a select few. Now in her 4th year at AIS Singapore, Mihaela teaches IGCSE/IB Math and TOK. As Deputy Head of the Math Department, she oversees curriculum implementation and leads the Math Olympiads CCA, drawing on her experience as a former participant. Previously, she spent 13 years at ISB in Bucharest as HOD and has led PD workshops for Lumina schools in Romania, fostering collaborative, student-centered teaching. She has also organized competitions like Informatrix and Lumina Math. Mihaela holds a BA and MS in Pure Math and an MS in IT.
